Dogs at the Rural Center

Currituck County Rural Center is a dog friendly facility. All dogs on the grounds must be on a leash and controlled at all times. Dogs must have current vaccinations and owner must be able to produce a copy of same upon request by county officials or their designees.

Dogs participating in special events such as agility course work will be exempt from the leash requirement during the course of the event. Dogs are not permitted in the buildings located on the grounds. Owners are responsible for waste cleanup and disposal.

The greatest possible use thereof is encouraged, subject only to such rules and regulations as will preserve the parks and public areas for purposes for which they are laid out and the enjoyment, convenience and safety of all concerned.

Start your visit at the Main Office Visitor Center where you will find information, brochures, rules and regulations and a site map. The building is open 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Our friendly staff will help start your visit by answering questions and providing you with the above mentioned items.

In order to maintain a safe atmosphere for our clients, we will only remain open only with supervised staff on hand. When the construction at the park is complete, we will offer extended hours without a reservation and supervised staff will not be a necessity.
