The United States Navy announced on August 28, 2009 that it has delayed the much-anticipated release of the Draft Environmental Impact
Statement (EIS) of the possible sites for an Outlying Landing Field (OLF). This report will examine each of the five potential site locations and possibly identify which site may eventually host the OLF.
A timeframe for the expected release of the EIS was not provided by the Navy. According to the Navy, the report will now coincide with the process of determining the homebasing of the new F-35C Navy Joint Strike Fighter, for which NAS Oceana, Va. is a candidate. More |
