Currituck County joined many departments across the nation to recognize National Fire Prevention Week during Oct. 4 - 9, 2009. This celebration is organized by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and has a 2009 theme of "Stay Fire Smart - Don't Get Burned."
Local Volunteer Fire Departments and Emergency Medical Services staff help educate citizens on fire safety, as well as other household hazards that may cause burns. This week also serves as a reminder for all citizens to test household fire alarms and replace faulty alarms or old batteries.
For excellent resources of fire safety information, visit any of the following:
Currituck County Volunteer Fire Departments; NFPA website; or the N.C. Fire Marshal's website. Residents may also contact the Currituck Fire Marshal, or Emergency Medical Services for important safety information. |
