EMS Recognized for Achieving
Model System Status
Currituck County Emergency Medical
Services received much-deserved recognition during the Feb. 16
Board of Commissioners meeting for the department's achieving Model
System status.
Representatives from the North Carolina Office of
Emergency Medical Services were on hand to present the official
certificate. Board of Commissioners Chairman Owen Etheridge accepted
the certificate on behalf of Currituck County, along with the remaining
Commissioners, EMS Chief Michael Carter, and EMS officers and staff
members.
This designation is the result of many months of
effort by EMS, and will help bring a higher level of emergency
medical services to the residents of Currituck County. More

OLF Community Forum Open to Public
A Community Forum will provide an update
on the Navy's proposal to build an Outlying Landing Field in the Hale's
Lake area. This public meeting will be held on Saturday,
Feb. 28, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
The forum is being hosted by the Camden and
Currituck Citizens Against an OLF. It will be held at Moyock Middle
School, located at 216 Survey Rd. For more information, visit www.noolfcurrituck.org.
OLF e-Newsletter To Provide Monthly
Updates
Currituck County plans to produce a new
digital publication to help citizens stay informed on the Navy's
proposal to construct an Outlying Landing Field. An OLF
e-newsletter will begin distribution in March.
This e-newsletter will be free and produced each
month by Currituck Public Information, in cooperation with
representatives of the Currituck Citizens Against an OLF.
Citizens may register to receive the OLF
e-newsletter on the Currituck County government website here.
Parks and Recreation Signups
The Parks and Recreation Department is
currently accepting registration for Youth Baseball and Softball, and
Adult Basketball.
On site registration will be conducted for Youth
Baseball and Softball on several dates in February. The final on site
signup session will be Feb. 28. More
LEPC Meeting Set for Feb. 26
Currituck County will hold a meeting of
the Local Emergency Planning Committee on Thursday, Feb. 26.
This will be held in the Historic Courthouse, at 7:00 p.m.

2009 Craft Workshop Registration Now
Open
The Currituck Center for Cooperative
Extension is now accepting registration for the 2009 Northeastern North
Carolina Craft Workshop. Registration will be taken on a "first
come, first served" basis until the April 1
deadline.
The 2009 Craft Workshop will be held on May 12 - 13,
at the James Research Center in Plymouth. A registration fee of $7.50
per day will be required.

Digital TV Transition Help Center Established
The state of North Carolina has
established a Digital Television Transition Help Center to assist state
residents as television broadcasting switches from analog to full
digital.
The Help Center is based in Raleigh and operates a
toll-free, 24 hour Phone Assistance Line at 888-388-1733. A website has
been established at www.dtv-setup.com to
provide more information. More
