December 3 Christmas Events in Currituck

The Currituck Extension and Community Association, in conjunction with the Currituck County Sheriff's Department and the Currituck County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #89, will sponsor the 20th Annual Christmas Parade at the Cooperative Extension Center.

The parade will begin promptly at 9:00 am on Saturday, December 3 on Airport Road and will travel south towards Hwy. 158. At this point, the parade will turn east bound on Hwy. 158 (Shortcut Rd.). The parade will then turn north on Aviation Pkwy and finish at the Currituck Extension Center.

At the conclusion of the parade, please join us inside, for a visit with Santa and the 59th annual Christmas tree lighting! The rain date for both of these events will be Saturday, December 10, 2011.

Following the Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting, visit the Currituck Library in Barco for the 7th Annual "Make It & Take It Workshop" on December 3, 2011 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.

This workshop will feature holiday decorations of the 1860s, commemorating the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War. Participants will enjoy music, refreshments and games of the period while creating 19th century seasonal decorations.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the library at 453-8345.

In addition, the Silver Bells Craft Show, sponsored by the Coinjock Ruritan Club, will be held December 3 & 4 from 10 am to 5 pm at the Currituck County High School in Barco, N.C.

More than 60 crafters and artisans will be displaying a wide variety of items for viewing and sale, including paintings, photography, handmade cards, decorations, ornaments, jewelry, wood carvings, glass works, sewing, toys and much, much more. 

Food donations for the Lower Currituck Food Pantry will be accepted.  Revenues from the show are used to support community projects.
