2009 Operation Santa Claus & Weatherization Applications

Operation Santa Claus

Currituck County Department of Social Services will accept applications for Operation Santa Claus from October 19 - December 22, 2009 for children up to age 17.

Children must be residents of Currituck County. Applications will be accepted at the DSS office, located in the Judicial Center Complex on Caratoke Highway. For more information, contact DSS at 232-3083.

Weatherization Applications

Applications for the Weatherization Program will be accepted at the Currituck Department of Social Services on November 9 and 10, 2009. The Economic Improvement Council (EIC) will take applications from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.

The EIC will be receiving a stimulus grant in the amount of $279,000 for home weatherization services for eligible families in the Albemarle area. Applicants who qualify can receive up to $4,000 worth of work to have their home weatherized, which will help save money on power bills. The work includes an energy audit, air sealing, insulations and blower door tests, which detect air leaks in a house.
