1095C - Health Care Information Forms For Individuals to be Mailed to Full-Time Employees

By Thursday, March 2, 2017 Human Resources is required to mail all full-time staff an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) form called a "1095-C". This form will be mailed to all staff that were considered full-time in 2016 with the exception of full-time staff hired from November 2, 2016 - December 31, 2016. Form 1095-C provides information you will need to assist you in completing your Federal tax return as it relates to employer-provided health insurance coverage.

Although you do not need the 1095C document to complete your 2016 taxes, Human Resources' goal is to provide this document to you on/before Wednesday, February 1, 2017.

The IRS has stated..."While the information on these forms may assist in preparing a return, they are not required. Individual taxpayers will generally not be affected by this extension and should file their returns as they normally would. Like last year, taxpayers can prepare and file their returns using other information about their health insurance..."

The IRS has posted a set of questions and answers that provides information about the 1095-C. The questions and answers explain who should expect to receive the form, how they can be used, and how to file your tax return with or without the forms. More information can be obtained on the IRS website at the following link: https://www.irs.gov/affordable-care-act/questions-and-answers-about-health-care-information-forms-for-individuals.

In addition, Cigna will be providing a 1095-B Form to employees. If you have any questions about the 1095-B Form please use the link provided above.

If you have any questions, please advise.
