Newtown Road Wastewater Treatment District
The Newtown Community Wastewater Collection and Treatment District (Water and Sewer District) was created by a resolution adopted by the Currituck County Board of Commissioners on February 3, 1992.
The Board of Commissioners found and determined that there was a demonstrable need for providing water services, sewer services or both in that there existed within the district a public health nuisance created by the failure of individual septic systems and the resulting drainage of that overflow into open ditches within the district.
System operations, maintenance, billing and administrative services are provided by the Currituck County Water Department.
In general, properties on Newtown Road and Richard Shaw Road may be serviced by the District. For specific lot numbers and areas served, please refer to the “Resolution Creating the Newtown Community Wastewater Collection and Treatment District.” You may obtain a copy of the Resolution by contacting the County Manager’s office at (252) 232-2075.
Public water service within the District is provided by the Currituck County Water Department.
As of February 2004, there are 30 active connections in the District.
