Mission Statement
The Inspections Department promotes the efficient growth and development of Currituck County’s 273 square mile planning jurisdiction. Currituck is fully committed to careful growth and development. The operating principles of the Inspections Department are as follows:
- Above all else, be honest.
- Always treat people in a manner that you would like to be treated.
- Always maintain an open mind; never prejudge people or issues.
- Treat everyone equally regardless of race, sex, religion, or economic status.
- Always provide prompt service without sacrificing accuracy.
- Be consistent. Use the interpretation files. Talk issues over with other staff members.
- Always maintain a professional attitude, regardless of the circumstances.
- Be an educator. Take the opportunity to inform the public of the reasons behind our actions.
- Be a student. Take the opportunity to learn from the public. Which regulations work? Which do not?
- Always strive to provide the best possible service to the people of Currituck County.
We want people to feel that they have been treated courteously, promptly, fairly, and professionally and have been served by people who care.
