Recycling Centers

Currituck County has eight manned Recycling Centers for residential solid waste collection and recycling. Each Recycling Center has the capability to recycle many products.

Electronics Recycling


Currituck County's Barco site accepts electronics on Tuesdays and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.   Please see the Barco site attendant for assistance. Collection Sites for electronics recycling have also been established at:  the Knotts Island Recycling Center, 180 Knotts Island Road; and the Corolla Library, 1123 Ocean Trail, Corolla.

Electronics recycling includes:
  • computer equipment
  • faxes
  • scanners
  • peripherals
  • televisions,
  • UPS backup systems
  • for other electronic items see the Barco site attendant.

Dry cell batteries (AAA, AA, C, D, 9-volt) are now collected for recycling at all centers as are CFL (compact fluorescent lamps).  Please see the site attendant to properly dispose of these items in designated collection containers.

Cooking Oil Recycling

Currituck County has added a new recycling program for used fryer oil. A Cooking Oil recycling container is now located at each recycling center.
 

Charitable Donations
      Salvation Army Drop boxes are located at many of the centers for charitable donations.
